Traditional · Practical Martial Arts & Fitness
Just minutes north of the Perth city centre, we invite you to train mind, body and spirit with us in the traditional and practical arts of the Samurai. The curriculum in our fun, friendly and safe environment is based in traditional Jujutsu -- the 'Gentle Art' as practiced for over 1000 years on the ancient battlefields of feudal Japan, now accented by modern principles of fitness and self defense which are employed by law enforcement agencies and personal protection professionals around the world. Among the things we train are: Body Movement / Strike Evasion, Striking, Grappling, Stickfighting (Traditional Bojutsu - Jojutsu), Groundfighting, Locks and Counters, different types of traditional Swordfighting, (Kenjutsu; Iaijutsu; Muto-Dori and Daisho Sabaki) as well as modern edged and non-edged weapons use and defenses.
Training is led by Noah Burton Greenstone, who began Martial Arts in the Kodenkan style in Los Angeles in 1973. After studying under some icons in the U.S. Martial Arts world like Sig Kufferath, Wally Jay, Cliff Stewart, Hawkins Cheung and Mike Belzer among others at the Inosanto Academy, he spent the 1990s in Amagasaki, Japan, training under the Söke of the Yanagi Ryu system, as well as the direct descendant of the style's founder, Iwanaga Gennojo Masamitsu. Noah has been winner at multiple competitions throughout the 1980s, as well as participant in multiple Embu sponsored by the Nippon Budokan. He is one of three people outside Japan with a Menkyo in Shin Getsu Muso Yanagi Ryu Bujutsu; one of the few remaining ancient Japanese Kobudo styles with direct unbroken lineage to battlefield application. Noah has led classes and seminars in various venues since the 1980s working with martial arts practitioners, law enforcement professionals, and people from every other walk of life. He ranked with the Zen Nippon Kobudo Renmei among others, and has been featured in several publications, including Japan's Budo Monthly.
